‘A path is a prior interpretation of the best way to traverse a landscape’.
― Rebecca Solnit, Wanderlust: A History of Walking
‘LANDSCAPES’ is an evolving collection of my writings rooted in the places I discover by following paths.
I begin a journey through a Landscape with a path to follow. Some are definite and some just a memory. Where they lead, and where they take me, are not always the same place. As I walk in the trod of others before me, I respond to the Landscape revealed through my senses and my imagination.
‘LANDSCAPES’ brings together facts, observations, feelings and curiosity to explore the stories that landscapes contain. It is not a guidebook, and it isn’t quite history either. I attempt to examine ‘place’ closely, one step at a time.
Through my words, I hope you will discover other Earthly worlds.
Landscape is not simply a view or a scene. It is a self-opinionated entity. It has presence, personality, language, and identity.
